DSB Fan Uses Barrels for Rustic Design Accents

Most of the time, our customers use their barrels for aging spirits at home. On a few rare occasions, we meet clients who think outside the box and use their barrels for something besides alcohol. Diane H., of Gainesville, TX., decided that she wanted to create a very special, unique look for her home. Our barrels were the perfect way for her to do just that.

A Stylized Home

Oak barrels have experienced a huge renaissance over the last few years, especially in terms of their value as a decorating accent. “They have that rustic, old-country style look to them,” Diane says. “But they are still classy. I use my barrels to decorate the kitchen, and all my friends love them.” Diane also plans to purchase some of the 53-gallon used whiskey barrels that we carry.

“The large barrels are perfect for end tables and even patio furniture,” Diane says. “I’m going to pick some up and repurpose them for my patio area this summer." She first found out about Deep South Barrels online, when she was looking for one small miniature barrel for her kitchen. Below, what the used barrels look like in our warehouse before cleaning and varnishing.

Used Whiskey Barrels

For those with a decorative flair, our used 53-gallon barrels add the perfect accent to any space. Some of the uses that customers have found for these large barrels include dog houses, planters, end tables, and wine bottle storage. You can even get really creative and take them apart, using the slats for bar stools, picture frames, and serving platters. Varnished or unvarnished, chopped in half or whole, used barrels offer endless possibilities.
