Customer Gives Aging Barrels a Design Edge

Learning how our customers use their aging barrels always inspires us. This week, we talked to Matt Schnell, an artist who specializes in unique, hand-crafted pieces ranging from vintage décor to custom signs and sculptures. Matt, located in Hanover, Minnesota, is also a Deep South Barrels fan, who customized his Scotch aging barrel to feature some beautiful artwork (photo below).

Ease of Use

Matt was introduced to Deep South Barrels by his friend Adam, who found us through Google. His favorite thing about our company is how cool the barrels look when they are displayed, aging his favorite Scotch in them, and the ease and ability to customize different flavors. “The barrels are a great starting point for anyone interested in distilling or aging their own alcohol at home,” Matt says. “They are affordable and easy to use.”

Red Barn Creations

A flair for design and architecture led Matt to become inspired to create new and interesting things out of full sized aging barrels, through his business Red Barn Creations.  Matt has built outdoor tables, firepits, and wine racks out of the barrels, and takes pride in building one of a kind pieces that are beautiful as well as fully functional. Check out his website for images of some of his past projects.

Thanks for reaching out, Matt! If you would like to see your aging barrel story featured on our website, send us an email at [email protected]. We will contact you quickly for an interview! Added by Christina on March 3, 2015.
