DSB Fan Perfects His Ideal Blend

Getting customer feedback is one of the best things about our work at Deep South Barrels, from clients who are just buying their first barrel to the experts who know what works best for their palate. Justin Moore of College Station, Texas, is included in the latter category. He has been using our oak aging barrels for a number of years after discovering us through our booth at National Finals Rodeo, and through experimentation and inventiveness, has found a truly winning combination.

Jameson Superfan

“I am a big fan of Jameson Irish Whiskey,” Justin says. “For over a year now, once every ten to twelve weeks I fill up my 2L barrel with regular Jameson and let it sit. By the time it’s done, the regular Jameson tastes as good if not better than Jameson 18 (a more exclusive, limited-reserve whiskey), in side by side taste tests.” Justin says that the barrel has been a conversation piece among his friends, especially once they realized how delicious the whiskey tasted.

Cost-Saving

One benefit to a whiskey aging barrel from DSB is the money-saving advantage. “The cost savings is giant,” says Justin. “Especially when my friends are drinking all my whiskey.” Justin’s advice for those who are new to barrel-aging, or don’t know where exactly to begin in the process: “You don’t know what you are missing until you try it. Each batch is somehow better than the last. It gets better every time, and the barrels will last you a long time.” The photo below is a shot of Justin’s aging barrel display.

Justin’s favorite thing about Deep South Barrels? The personalization, the fact that they are easy to use, and that they make his favorite whiskey even better. Thanks for reaching out, Justin!
