Aging Barrels Offer DSB Client Endless Possibilities

One of the things that sets Deep South Barrels apart from the crowd is our ability to customize our barrels with almost any design or graphic imaginable. While many clients choose to have their barrels engraved with a family crest, initials, or the name of their favorite beverage, DSB fan Jeremy R., from Galveston, TX, prefers to get especially creative. “I have two 2L barrels for now, and I hope to get another one soon,” he says. “On one I have a dragon design, and the other has a pair of crossed swords. I really love medieval design.”

Ren Fest Favorite

Jeremy first encountered Deep South Barrels at the Texas Renaissance Festival, where he didn’t initially purchase, but couldn’t get the barrels out of his mind. “My friend bought a blank barrel from DSB at the Ren Fest,” Jeremy says. “I really liked the idea of personalizing them. So I ordered one less than a month later. Then I got my second barrel really soon after.”

While his initial beverage of choice was a barrel-aged gin, Jeremy soon started experimenting with other cocktails. “I bought some essences and combining them with cheap vodka really gives me great results,” he says. “The Flamethrower essence is amazing, and tastes even better than Fireball. I’ve gotten a lot of my friends into aging their own drinks.”

Jeremy’s favorite thing about Deep South Barrels is the different options for customization and our essence selection. “It can be intimidating for someone new to barrel aging, they might not know where to begin. DSB makes it easy, and fun for beginners.” Jeremy even offers some advice for those just starting out: “Don’t be afraid to ask questions.”
