Have Some Fun With Rum

One of the most popular alcoholic beverages is rum. Many people do not realize that rum is made from sugarcane, sugarcane juice or molasses. Molasses is the most common sugarcane ingredient used to make rum. Rum is distilled before it is ages in oak barrels. Yeast and water are added to start the fermentation process. The rum making methods used to create, distill and age the beverage depend on the area that production is taking place. Certain countries use stainless steel tanks to age their rum. This produces colorless rum. Other areas use wooden barrels for the aging process, which produces dark colored rums.
