Deep South Barrels are made of American White Oak. They are handcrafted and are held together by pressure from six hoops and come with a stand, bung and a spigot. Our barrels have been given a medium char inside which caramelized the sugars in the oak. The charring of the oak allows the barrel to age wines, spirits, homemade beers, vinegars and hot sauces. These barrels are perfect for mellowing and enhancing the flavors of whiskey, bourbon, rum, tequila, scotch, brandy, cognac, red wines and vinegar.

AGING SPIRITS & WINE IN A BARREL
Add any spirit or red wine to the barrel. Let stand to acquired taste. Due to the higher surface area ratio of a small barrel, your spirits will age 10x to 15x faster than a full size barrel. The longer it’s aged in the barrel the better your spirits become. Your barrel will age spirits or wine in three to six weeks to the same extent that a 55 gallon barrel would take a year.
BOOTLEG BOX
The Bootleg Box is a prepackaged combination of our American Oak Aging Barrels and two of our Essences used for making your own spirits. The Bootleg Box works by adding 1 bottle of essence and one liter of unflavored vodka or other pure ethanol product like grain alcohol to the barrel using a funnel. Fill until full only leaving room for the bung. Let age for 14 days. Continue to age until desired taste is reached.
